Master Plan 2027
A Master Plan is a 20-year strategic vision for an airport, which is renewed every five years. It guides the future growth and development of the airport, and is a requirement under the Airports Act 1996.
Melbourne Airport will soon start work on its Master Plan 2027, and consultation will begin in late 2026.
The Master Plan:
Sets the strategic direction for the airport
Provides a plan for the development of the airport site
Indicates to the public the intended uses of the site and development proposals
Includes provisions to reduce potential conflicts between the uses of the site
Ensures that uses of the site are compatible with areas surrounding the airport
Ensures compliance with environmental legislation and standards
The next Master Plan will be available for consultation in late 2026.
Melbourne Airport is in the early stages of development of the Master Plan 2027. Documents relating to the Master Plan and consultation will be shared on this page.
The most recent Master Plan, the 2022 Melbourne Airport Master Plan, was approved by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government in November 2022.
