Have you heard of new operating modes?
The operating modes will be detailed in The Noise Sharing and Airspace Concept Plan. This plan will explain the operating modes that will be used to manage the impact of aircraft noise on communities surrounding the airport. It will include providing those communities with periods of relief from noise by operating cross-runway operations using Runway 09/27 (the east-west runway).
Melbourne Airport will also detail how its runways will operate with the two runways at Essendon Fields Airport, including any changes to airspace and how aircraft access will be prioritised.
Melbourne Airport have appointed Trax and GHD who will undertake consultation with local communities, local councils, airlines, other aerodromes within the Melbourne Basin and the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning to develop the Noise Sharing and Airspace Concept Plan. Information about this consultation process and timing will be available on this website when confirmed.
The plan will be reviewed and endorsed by Airservices Australia prior to approval by the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
